Lip balm or "Chapstick" is a popular giveaway for many of my clients, especially in the cold dry winter months. Personalized chapsticks are an affordable and useful promotional item that people will hang on to - which is great for generating brand awareness.
Who buys promotional lip balms?
While there's no one type of business or industry that chapstick works best for, these tend to be really popular with my realtor/real estate clients who make these available at open houses. I also sell to travel agents and insurance companies who give these away at their offices and events. And don't forget the medical industry, especially doctors offices and hospitals who love these for health fairs and waiting rooms.
Which lip balm is right for my business?
It's tough to say for sure without knowing YOUR business, but there are opportunities to pair lip balms to your demographics or industry. While not set in stone, below are a few rules of thumb I like.
If your target audience is kids, families, schools you may want to check out lip balms with fun flavors like apple, blueberry cobbler and bubble gum.
If your business caters to travelers, sporty, and/or outdoorsy types, consider a chapstick that provides SPF protection. Not only will these prevent dryness and cracking, they'll protect from harmful rays.
Men tend to prefer more traditional styles and flavors, while women skew towards the shaped lip balms which are more like cosmetics.
